The Middle East is an area where vehicle is king and fuel is inexpensive, frequently leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.
But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have pressed up the price of oil, the issue of discovering alternative sources of fuel has come into sharp focus.
In an area that has one of the highest carbon footprints in the world, one company is taking advantage of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's very first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving rewarding too, already their client-list contains McDonald's.
